Sustainability Reporting Assurance Standards

We provide both limited and reasonable assurance, in compliance with recognised standards including the International Standard on Sustainability Assurance (ISSA), the International Standard on Assurance Engagements (ISAE), the Australian Standard on Assurance Engagements (ASAE) 3000 series, ASSA 5000 General Requirements for Sustainability Assurance Engagements and the International Standard ISSA 5000 General Requirements for Sustainability Assurance Engagements.

The timeline for introducing limited and reasonable assurance over the climate information required by AASB S2 Climate-related Disclosures under the Corporations Act 2001 (the Act) is outlined in ASSA 5010 Timeline for Audits and Reviews of Information in Sustainability Reports.

On 29 January 2025, the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AUASB) approved the adoption of international standard ISSA 5000 General Requirements for Sustainability Assurance Engagements in Australia. AUASB standard ASSA 5000 General Requirements for Sustainability Assurance Engagements will apply to sustainability assurance engagements for reporting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2025; contributing to greater international alignment and confidence of assurance over climate and other sustainability disclosed in the annual reports.

The Act requires, the auditor of a company’s financial report to provide assurance over the mandatory climate information in an annual report.  The table below shows the phased introduction of this assurance for three groups of entities with earlier assurance allowed.
